  • For the second consecutive year, nobody participated in more matches in a New Japan ring than Shingo Takagi (88) and nobody had more victories in NJPW than Shingo Takagi (63).

  • Jeff Cobb has defeated Shingo Takagi twice in singles action in NJPW, both during the G1 Climax tournament.
  • Cobb was also victorious over Shingo Takagi in the three way finals of PWG’s Battle Of Los Angeles in 2018.

  • Nobody had more winning falls in 2020 than SANADA with 40. Nobody had a better Fall Differential (winning falls – losing falls) than SANADA at +30.

  • SANADA and EVIL have battled four times in singles matches. They are 2-2. In 2020, EVIL defeated Sanada on his way to winning the New Japan Cup and SANADA defeated EVIL on his way to winning the B Block during the G1 Climax.

Tokyo Dome Statistics

  • EVIL and SANADA competed in separate matches at The Tokyo Dome for the first time last year. EVIL was victorious to capture the NEVER Openweight Six Man championships with Shingo Takagi and BUSHI while SANADA fell victim in a RevPro Heavyweight Championship Match against Zack Sabre Jr

  • Taiji Ishimori’s .813 winning percentage in 2020 singles matches was the best in New Japan. Ishimori may not have gotten the shine or the main event spots, but he is absolutely a winner and a deserving champion.
  • Hiromu Takahashi’s 9 singles wins over the last 90 days are the most in NJPW.
  • Hiromu Takahashi’s 27 overall winning falls in 2020 were third most in NJPW. Only SANADA and Satoshi Kojima finished more matches as the winner.
  • Hiromu Takahashi was put to the test in 2020, his 21:06 average singles match length was the second longest in NJPW in 2020. On average, only Tetsuya Naito had longer singles matches in NJPW in 2020 than Hiromu Takahashi.
  • Hiromu’s 6 hours, 19 minutes, and 47 seconds of Singles Match Length was the 4th highest in NJPW this year, behind only Kazuchika Okada, Tetsuya Naito, and EVIL
  • Hiromu Takahashi’s 13 singles victories in 2020 were the third highest in NJPW, behind only Yota Tsuji (16) and Kazuchika Okada (15).

  • Hiomu Takahashi’s only singles loss in the Tokyo Dome came via four way match for the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship in 2018. Hiromu was not the losing fall recipient.

  • Kota Ibushi’s was tough to put away in singles matches last year. His 23:55 average losing match length was second highest amongst heavyweights. Only Tetsuya Naito logged longer average losses at 27:33.
  • In his career, Jay White has only won one singles match over 30 minutes. He defeated Hiroshi Tanahashi for the IWGP Heavyweight Title in 30:28 on February 11, 2019.
  • Kota Ibushi, on the other hand, has won 5 such matches.

  • Since their battle in the 2019 G1 Climax final, Jay White has defeated Kota Ibushi three straight times in singles competition, beginning with the Double Gold Dash Consolation Match during last year’s Wrestle Kingdom.
  • Ibushi’s only victory over white took him 31 minutes and 1 second. The 31 minute mark may be Ibushi’s sweet spot for big matches, he defeated Tetsuya Naito in 31:18 last night.

IWGP Heavyweight Championship Matches

  • Kota Ibushi has participated in four IWGP Heavyweight Championship matches. Of course, last night’s victory over Tetsuya Naito was his first victory for the top IWGP title.
  • This will be Jay White’s third IWGP Heavyweight Championship Match. He is 1-1 when competing for the title and this will be his first IWGP heavyweight championship match since April 6th, 2019 (640 days ago).

IWGP Heavyweight Championship Matches

  • This will be Jay White’s 5th ever IWGP Intercontinental Championship match. He is 2-2 when competing for the white belt.
  • This will be Kota Ibushi’s 7th ever IWGP Intercontinental Championship match. He is 3-3 when competing for the white belt.

  • Neither Jay White nor Kota Ibushi has ever participated in anything other than a singles match at The Tokyo Dome.
