Zack Sabre Jr and Hiroshi Tanahashi revitalize their rivalry for the first time since the 2020 G1. These two were practically inseparable in 2019, meeting five times in the pre-pandemic year. As they’ve stayed apart, Zack Sabre Jr has elevated himself closer to singles glory, while Tanahashi has remained a standard bearer for NJPW through the COVID-19 pandemic.

Zack enters tonight’s match with a 2-0 record, looking to repeat his 4-0 record to begin last year’s G1. Tanahashi, entering at 1-1, needs a victory to keep himself in the conversation to win the ever-competitive C Block.

Match Seven
G1 Climax 32 A Block Match
Tom Lawlor [0] v. JONAH [0]

Either JONAH or Tom Lawlor will achieve their first-ever G1 Climax victories. Both of the NJPW Strong mainstays enter after losing their G1 debuts.

JONAH hasn’t wrestled a singles match in twelve days, so he has had plenty of time to acclimate to his Japanese surroundings. On the other hand, Lawlor last wrestled a singles match three days ago, but his tournament was the last to start, so he should also be ready to shine as he steps into the ring with JONAH in the second tournament match of the night.

Text

Description automatically generated with medium confidence

David Finlay and Shingo Takagi both reach the middle of their block matches, and they each enter after a grueling duo of matches. Both wrestlers are likely still recovering from hard-fought main events against Juice Robinson. Though only Finlay came out of his match against “Rock Hard” with a victory, he will look to build on that momentum against the new G1 Climax iron man, Shingo Takagi.
